The AELC Center was established from an ICCB grant as a Center of Excellence, and charged with providing a model educational lab environment for Adult Education (AE) students. Since that time, the AELC has worked to determine the academic value of new technologies for AE students.

Currently the AELC is advancing uses for the academic Web 2.0 sites that are being developed. To that end, several blogs and wikis are used to showcase those sites. They include: http://wccniuesl.blogspot.com: Technology for the Adult Education Instructor which highlights Web 2.0 sites and gives commentary on the educational value of these new technologies. This site also includes several lists of recommended sites, as well as some student Hotlists which offer easy access to grouped academic learning sites. http://constitutionaelc.blogspot.com: AELC Constitution Blog highlights academic sites that focus on the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions, as well as the Declaration of Independence and similar information. A focus of this site is the use of Gabcasts http://www.gabcast.com by AELC staff that further explain difficult concepts in the Constitution.

Several other blogs and wikis are offered, and listed on the Technology for the Adult Education Instructor as additional resources.
